Heinz II
( Intro from Heinz I )
One of the fun things about making these collections is when I discover things that I forgot about completely, or I finally found things I was searching for, couldn’t find, but then did.
In 1979 Tom Macintosh, who was the communications director responsible for annual reports at Heinz, called me to work on that year’s annual report.
His briefing was simple: “Go to Heinz installations all over the world and do the best photos you can.”
I don’t think they still make annual reports with the care and attention they did then.
I was sent, literally, around the world, including Australia, New Guinea, Morocco, Portugal and England.
When I found the outtakes from this shoot I was like a kid in a candy store.
It was so great to see the things I had forgotten about.
I haven’t tried to reproduce all the photos from the annual report, rather I picked the images that brought great joy to me.
Also, I didn’t try to pick one from each country. I picked whatever was interesting to me—in some case there are only one or two photos, and for others there are many.
I’ve enjoyed putting this together. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
