Subways are a mixed bag.

They’re hot in the summer , cold in the winter, crowded, noisy, and often dangerous.

Sort of like a microcosm of New York, ain’t it?

But they are the fastest way to get places in NY.

Ever since I was a little kid my dad would let me stand at the front of the train at the window so I could see the neighborhoods as they went by.

I loved to ride them. Every day was a new adventure. The variety of people and the unplanned interactions in the close confines replaced my interest in the neighborhoods outside.
