It offers history, empire, tradition, uniqueness, and charm.
For me, the gondolas are supreme. Boats of all kinds fill the canals, but gondolas rule.
I’ve been to Venice twice, about 20 years apart. The first gondola photograph, no. 25 of this collection, was shot after many, many fruitless attempts. The next photo, no.26, was shot on the second trip after the same long search for an even better shot.
It was not until I got home that I looked at the background of the images and realized that it was the same building in both photos. The only difference was a new coat of paint.
