Windows No 1

From the Windows I collection

To show my lack of sophistication, or even knowledge of symbolism, I mention this from my past:

John Szarkowski, who was at the time in charge of the photography department at the Museum of Modern Art, was putting together a show called Mirrors and Windows. And I thought to myself, I ain’t got a lot of photos of mirrors but I’ve got quite a bunch on windows. It was only much later that I understood he was using the title as a metaphor—mirrors being images that reveal a great deal about the photographer and windows to refer to what the photographer was looking at.

That’s what I think today.

I still got a bunch of windows.

A window is a window is a window.

Thanks Gertrude.
